Chris Pronger & Tim Thomas Take on NYC
The benefits of being right next door to the NHL store…being able to run over to take photos of Chris Pronger (Philadelphia Flyers) and Tim Thomas (Boston Bruins).
Young fans are always the cutest. That’s what I love most about these events…being able to watch the young kids around hockey legends.
Although, learning about hockey and who these legends are…that’s even cuter. A young kid tried to get Tim Thomas to sign his hockey card, but Tim replied, “That’s not my card.” I thought the poor kid might start to cry because he didn’t know what to do.
I looked at the card and saw it was Chris Pronger’s card. I told the kid, “You have to give it to this guy because that’s him on the card.” I pointed him in the direction of Chris Pronger and Chris stopped to autograph it.
I always like to see new fans learning the tricks of the trade (especially when it comes to meeting players and getting their autographs). One thing I will never understand is having a player sign a jersey of a team that he doesn’t even play for (or it’s not his jersey). To me, that’s just weird.
I own only one player jersey and that’s Evgeni Malkin’s Metallurg (KHL) jersey with his name in Russian. I only want Malkin’s name on it. I can’t fathom having a NHLer or KHLer that wasn’t Malkin signing that jersey. Just weird…
At any rate, thanks to @NHL for sending the updates and for giving me the heads up on how busy it was over there before I headed over.
Here are the photos from the event:
