Running To Stand Still

New Painting of Martin Brodeur

Marty In Progress by Borbay

On May 22nd, Borbay will be showcasing one of his latest works: “Martin Brodeur Makes A Save With Much On His Mind” at an Art Exhibition in Tribeca.

Thanks to someone at the NHL office for pointing Borbay’s work out to me (he knows who he is…FISH…). He has created so many breathtaking pieces that he is worth promoting in every sense of the word (his love for coffee just about ranks up there with mine).

You should see his NYC commissioned work on his blog. The NYC work is what looped me in months ago. Too bad someone else had commissioned him for those pieces.

I’ll admit that I’m a sucker for hockey related artwork. Just ask Darius Kasparaitis’ sister. I own two of her art pieces (and granted…I will probably own more in the future as she develops her new line).

One of her paintings that she created was a painting of her brother. When DK was getting ready to leave NYC forever, the offer came up to purchase it (because he owned it). I had to think about whether I wanted my #3 gracing my walls forever. I didn’t have room for it, because my own MK artwork collection has been growing faster than I have space for.

Maybe when I move into my new house I’ll buy it off of him…even if I have to go to Lithuania to purchase it.

There are not too many people that have created hockey art. Although, I’m lucky…I get to see all of the amazing hockey artwork around Prudential Center.

But when it comes right down to creating hockey artwork of individual hockey players…there are very few artists that have actually been able to create any. So hockey art is very rare to find.

This piece by Borbay is his first NHL piece. Marty, if you want to grab it, you better do it fast. Because on May 22nd, I may be standing in front of it thinking…’I could own a Borbay painting of MB30.’
